Ray of Raymond Victor Designs has always believed fashion is about connection — the quiet, powerful act of weaving color, texture and story into something that makes people feel seen. Last summer, he watched that belief come to life in a way he never expected.
For years, he admired Northern Nevada HOPES for the compassion and dignity the organization brings to the community. When he began planning the Pay It Forward Fashion Show, he imagined an event that would do more than highlight creativity. He wanted it to give back to the people who make northern Nevada whole.
What happened that night went far beyond a runway.
HOPES staff and community members stepped into the spotlight. Designers of all levels shared their work. Friends worked behind the scenes to make the show possible. When the first model walked out, the crowd erupted — not just for the clothing, but for the courage, joy and authenticity shining through each person.
For a moment, the room felt different. Softer. Brighter. Connected.
The event raised more than Ray expected, but the true impact wasn’t measured in dollars. It was measured in togetherness — in the way people cheered for one another, in the way the runway became a place where everyone belonged. Creativity may be his craft, but community is his purpose. The Pay It Forward Fashion Show became a living example of what happens when people choose love in action.
That shared purpose is what shapes Summer of Love — a season dedicated to compassion, connection and collective care. Ray’s runway didn’t just showcase fashion. It showed what becomes possible when people show up for one another with open hearts.
