By Dr. Susan Mazer & Dallas Smith
We’re thrilled to invite you to a very special event that’s close to our hearts: Harmonies for HOPES, a benefit concert featuring the Reno Jazz Orchestra on August 16, 2025, at the Note-Ables Auditorium.
This concert is more than just an evening of incredible music—it’s a way for us to give back to a place that means the world to us: Northern Nevada HOPES.
Why HOPES Matters to Us
Our connection to HOPES runs deep. As musicians and advocates for wellness, we’ve always believed in the healing power of compassion, community, and care. HOPES embodies all of that. Their commitment to meeting people where they are—without judgment, without barriers—is something we deeply admire.
We’ve seen firsthand how HOPES transforms lives. Their behavioral health programs, in particular, are life-saving. And the need for these services has never been greater.
A Personal Mission
This concert is personal for us. Dallas has been a proud member of the Reno Jazz Orchestra for 15 years, and we’ve both supported the RJO for even longer. Bringing together our love for music and our passion for community health feels like a perfect harmony.
Through our work with The C.A.R.E. Channel, which brings calming music and nature imagery into over 1,200 hospitals nationwide, we’ve seen how music can ease suffering, reduce anxiety, and create moments of peace. Music heals—and so does HOPES.
Why Mental Health?
Mental health is health. It’s as essential as any other part of our well-being. Yet too often, it’s overlooked or stigmatized. Supporting HOPES means investing in a future where everyone has access to the care they need to live fulfilling, connected lives.
