As a board-certified OB-GYN, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside women through some of the most transformative moments of their lives. These experiences—both joyful and challenging have shaped my commitment to providing care that is not only clinically sound but deeply compassionate.
That’s why I’m proud to introduce our new Maternal Health Program at Northern Nevada HOPES, designed specifically for pregnant women who are currently using substances or have a history of opioid use or opioid use disorder. This program meets women where they are without judgment and offers holistic support throughout pregnancy and into the postpartum period.
What Our Maternal Health Program Offers
We are currently enrolling women early in their pregnancy journey. Our comprehensive services are designed to support both mother and baby, including:
- Prenatal Care
- Nutrition Counseling
- Lactation Support
- Postpartum Care
- Family Planning & Birth Control
- Couplet Care (Mom & Baby Together)
- Behavioral Health Counseling
- Peer Support
- Case Management
- Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD)
We also offer group prenatal care classes, a model that fosters community, shared learning, and emotional support among expectant mothers. These sessions help build strong connections and improve outcomes for both moms and babies.
One of the most important tools we offer is buprenorphine, a safe and effective medication during pregnancy. It helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, lowers the risk of overdose, and protects the developing fetus.
A Safe, Supportive Environment
Pregnancy is a time of profound change and when substance use is part of the picture, it can feel overwhelming. Our team-based approach ensures that every patient receives care that is grounded in empathy, respect, and clinical excellence.
Together with Dr. Chelsea Travers and our dedicated care team, we’ve built a program that prioritizes safety, dignity, and long-term wellness. Our goal is to help every mother feel supported, informed, and empowered throughout her pregnancy and postpartum journey.
Accessible Care for Every Family
We understand that navigating healthcare can be challenging, especially when cost is a concern. That’s why HOPES accepts most insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. Our Intake and Eligibility Specialists are here to help every patient understand their coverage and access the care they need.
If you or someone you love is pregnant and struggling with substance use, please know: you are not alone. We’re here to walk this journey with you, offering expert care and unwavering support every step of the way.
