Alert
The Reno Police Department needs the help of the GLBTQ Community in regard to
several violent crimes that have occurred in downtown Reno. Those violent crimes
have shown a trend as being directed toward males who are either gay/bisexual,
or soliciting sex from gay/bisexual men in the area of Idlewild Park after nightfall.
The perpetrators are white males in their teens and twenties. There are several
things YOU can do:
1) If you are a victim of a crime such as this then please consider reporting it. You
can do this in a couple of ways:
You can call the police department directly at 334-2175 and ask to speak
with Officer Josh Watson or Lt. Amy Newman. They are acting liaisons to
the LGBTQ Community.
-
Contact Brian Baxter at A Rainbow Place, (775) 789-1780, or Lindsay
Lightfoot at Northern Nevada HOPES, (775) 348-2893 or (888) 467-3144.
Either of them is happy to talk with you about the incident (on or off their
property) and accompany you when making a police report.
REMEMBER: The police are more interested in putting an end to violent crime than
they are in your sex life.
2) Stop frequenting public places in order to solicit sex.
Remember it's illegal but, more importantly, it could cost you your life.

Access to Healthcare
Access to Healthcare is a comprehensive Network of hospitals and primary,
specialty and ancillary health care providers generously offering their services to
the uninsured at a reduced fee. AHN is not health insurance and does not make
payment directly to providers; AHN members pay the reduced fee at the time
services are provided. The Network provides uninsured Nevada residents access
to professional health care at a reduced rate while providing timely compensation
for providers enrolled in the Network. Northern Nevada HOPES is working in
conjunction with AHN to provide more services to our clients.
Northern Nevada HOPES has a unique and wonderful relationship with AHN. As
many clients are aware, AHN helps individuals with increased access to medical
needs and also determines clients' eligibility for certain programs, like the AIDS
Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) and Health Insurance Continuation Program
(HICP). As members of AHN, our clients are required to update their eligibility with
AHN every six months and to coordinate these updates before the end of their
eligibility period.
Unfortunately, many clients are going without their medications and medical
treatments due to non-compliance with AHN. When clients receive their
reminder letters (at 2 months and then 1 month prior to the end of eligibility),
they must call to schedule an appointment with AHN. Failure to do so can result in
lack of services or medication refills. There is a waiting time to be seen at AHN so
if you are a client and receive your letter, please schedule an appointment!
For more information, please contact the Clinic at 786-4673.
